NOTE: Prosecutor Sandra Jo Streeter was in possession of an "IRS binder" that proves there was no IRS holding with respect to Leonard Cohen's fraudulent default judgment against Kelley Lynch. Furthermore, the documents in that binder prove - unequivocally - that Cohen and his representatives LIED about an IRS refund closing their case on the allegations that he committed criminal tax fraud. This man feels totally comfortable defrauding people (Kelley Lynch, Phil Spector, Steven and Marty Machat, and possibly others - he defrauded attorney Peter Lopez of $90,000 and simply does not like to pay his advisers properly) of millions of dollars; defrauding the U.S. and various state governments of millions of dollars; evading taxation in Canada where he can no longer reside due to residence/tax issues; perjuring himself extensively - including with respect to Phil Spector; and behaving like a common criminal. And yet, the news media glorifies him. This man is not religious and his relationship to religion is essentially to use it as a front. What it is, in fact, is an affront to one's intelligence. The lies and perjury Leonard Cohen has told before LA Superior Court shock the conscience. Fortunately, most of them are provable lies. That would include his three versions of the Phil Spector gun story he has embellished over the years. LA Superior Court now has his versions that vary with respect to neck, head, and chest & the weapon itself changes as frequently as Cohen's good rock and roll stories meant to advance his career. Phil Spector's prosecutors believe the weapon was a semi-automatic. Cohen seemed certain it was an automatic. In some far-fetched "recountings," the weapon was actually a crossbow. Other versions include a bottle of wine. Leonard Cohen cannot stop lying. When caught, his excuses are utterly pathetic.
Kelly: Now, isn’t it true that -- well, before I go there, do you blame -- well, you actually had a financial consultant who invested your money, in that account, correct? Streeter: Objection; relevance. Cohen: I don’t understand that question. Streeter: Relevance, Your Honor. Objection. Court: Let me see counsel at sidebar. Sidebar: Court: ... What is the relevance? Kelly: Your Honor, it goes to two things: First, I think it’s relevant because it goes to bias. (RT 288) It goes to his bias against my client. He’s already testified about issues regarding his account ... that’s first. Second of all, I do believe it goes to character for truthfulness., I have a good faith belief that -- and this is based on Federal Court documentation -- that there was an attempted conspiracy ... Court: I’m not going to get into a retrial of the civil issues between Ms. Lynch and Mr. Cohen, so I’m not going to let you go very far into the extent of the business dealings. You made a motion very early on, which I in limine granted ... the issues in this trial are whether a protective order was violated and whether annoying ... phone calls were made. Streeter: ... And then that will lead to further -- the People asking more questions of the person in particular that was responsible for getting the default judgment in the (RT 289) holding of the IRS ... Kelly: ... I do think what does matter if there’s any character for truthfulness if it shows that Mr. Cohen attempted to lie, I have a good faith belief that this information ... (RT 290)
